PAC cancels Bury March on safety grounds
Feb 21, 2007
Following consultation with the police, Parents Against Change has decided to cancel a proposed march through Bury St Edmunds at the beginning of March on safety grounds.
"We were unable to quantify the number of marchers, and there was concern that we might have in excess of a thousand," says PAC spokesman Steve Cowper. "In the interests of public safety and the safety of our children, we think it best not to stage the protest," he said.
Instead, PAC will hold a "celebration of Middle Schools" at a school site the following week - details to follow.
PAC would like to thanks the police for their advice and cooperation.
